Court Martial at Malta - On Saturday, July 23, a general court-martial assembled in the court-martial room , on the square. Major Mitford officiating aas deputy judge advocate. The prisoner , Captain William Armit Eyre, paymaster of the 47th Regiment (who was in charge of Lieut. Ellison, of the same regiment ), stood charged with scandalous conduct in having embezzeled and fraudulently misapplied certain public monies, amounting in the aggregation to the sum of - [S300] The Argus newspaper.
