    Sir Samuel Eyre knt. of Newhouse. He inherited the estate of Bonhams from his great uncle William Eyre, and purchased
    Newhouse from his cousin William in 1660. He was called to the Degree of Serjeant-at-Law, and on 22 Feb,1694 was appointed one of the Judges of the Court of King's Bench.

    erected to him by the people of Lancaster.

    Originally buried at Lancaster, but later his remains were removed and reburied in the Eyre vault in St Thomas's on the 2nd July 1699.

    Robert his association with the law, which made the name Eyre famous in the legal profession of the eighteenth as Pollock was in the nineteenth. He was a bencher in Lincoln's Inn, where his arms are still to be seen emblazoned with those of other benefactors, in the Hall of that Society.
