    Mary Eyre, the only daughter of Isaac and Eleanor Cooper Eyre, married William Shreve Doran. They lived on a farm near Attleboro for a number of years; later removing across country in wagons
    to the vicinity of Wilkes-Barre, where several of the family have since resided.

    Joseph Eyre was a Sea Captain and spent his active life in his vocation. He made frequent voyages to England, and was in China a number of times, from whence he brought many treasured relics.
    He was twice around the Cape of Good Hope, and was in California during the gold fever of '49. He was once shipwrecked, in which his Bible was the only thing saved. A granddaughter has this
    among her treasures. His wife was Elizabeth Brown of Newtown, Penna., where the family resided. The had three children.

    Preston Eyre married Macre Pickering (1840) and they started their married life in Juniata County, central Pennsylvania, but soon returned to Bucks, where he taught the Middletown Friends'
    School, in Attleboro, for a time.
    In the spring of 1844 they removed to a farm in Upper Makefield, which he afterward bought and named the place "Fairview". On this farm the balance of his life was spent. They had six children.
    "Uncle Preston"s" was for many years a favorite resort for relatives and friends. The excursions to the rive in the old farm wagon for a supply of watermelons from the island, a bathe in the
    Delaware, or a boat ride upon its rippling waters, were "scenes of our childhood" not easily forgotten.

    Isaac Eyre, the youngest son of Isaac and Eleanor Cooper Eyre, remained upon the ancestral farm near Attleboro,some twelve or fifteen years after his father's death in 1843; then retired to the
    village of Attleboro, where the family lived a few years. Later he purchased and removed to a fine farm near Newtown, where they lived until the son's marriage, when he retired to Newtown to
    spend the last years of his active and useful life.
    He was one of the promoters of the Philadelphia and Newtown R R and actively assisted in laying out and building the road.
    He was also interested in other railroad projects, and was at one time President of the Sunbury, Hazelton and Wilkes-Barre RR Co, the bonds of which bear his name as President.
    He was one of the original members of the George School committee of Philadelphia Yearly Meeting of Friends, and it was largely through his influence that the school was located near Newtown.
    The "Eyre Line" leading through the woods from the main building toward Newtown is a fitting memorial to his earnest and persistent efforts on behalf of George School.
    His first wife was Elizabeth Knight (married 1842) and they had two children. A second wife, late in life, was Elizabeth E. Smith.

    Welcome! The bidding is on a large, leather bound, 19th Century Bible, which contains family records for
    The Thomson family. The handwritten genealogy records start with the Marriage Certificate for Thomas
    Thomson of Cheltenham, Montgomery and Mary Eyre of Newtown, Bucks Co., Pennsylvania. They were
    married February 24th, 1874. The following records appear to be of their children and the rest of their
    families. It also looks as if someone did some research into the family in 1900, and there are some additional notes inside. The records are quite thorough, and in several cases give the cause
    of death. Title page of the Bible reads: The Holy bible containing the Old and New Testaments, together with the Apocrypha, Concordance, and Psalms of david in Metre, Translated out of the
    Original Tonuges: and with all Former Translations Diligently Compared and Revised. Also, A full and copiously illustrated Bible
    Dictionary - History of the Books of the Bible, illustrated. An account of the different versions of the bible. A History of the Jewish Sects with various valuable tabular matter not to be
    found in other editions. Published by Miller's Bible and Publishing House, Philadelphia. Undated, circa 1870. Bible measures 9.5" x 12" x 3.75" thick. It does need some help. Cover are
    detached, outter spine is also detached, though it is still kept inside the pages. Pages are held together in four different sections. It needs to be rebound. The family records are unique
    though, and quite interesting.
